The capital of Aichi Prefecture and the fourth-largest city in Japan, Nagoya is the historical heartland of ancient samurai as well as Japan's modern industry. Explore the elegant samurai fortress Nagoya Castle, with cherry blossoms surrounding the castle's understated turrets. During your Nagoya cruise, visit Osu Kannon Buddhist temple and see the statue of the goddess of mercy within. Then stroll through the bustling Osu Market nearby, with its stalls selling everything from antiques to anime pop art. Or head to Tokugawa Garden and stroll among the black pines, cherry trees and peonies surrounding a calm lake, then pop into the nearby Tokugawa Art Museum and see Edo-period artefacts.

Day 3-4 - Kyoto,Japan

Easily accessible by train from Osaka, Kyoto was Japan's ancient capital city. Today, it remains the country's unofficial capital of culture, history and cuisine. Explore the centuries-old Kiyomizu-dera Buddhist temple, perched a top a hill surrounded by cherry trees. Centre yourself at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shinto shrine, with its long, meditative rows of red torii gates. Cruise to Osaka and stroll through mysterious gardens of raked gravel at Ryoan-ji temple, or roam through a bamboo forest at Arashiyama, called the Philosopher's Path for its peaceful, reflective vibe. Then, see the bustling side of Kyoto at the Higashiyama District, where narrow streets lined with shops and restaurants wind up the side of picturesque Mount Otowa.

Day 6 - Okinawa, Naha, Japan

The only place in Japan with a subtropical climate, Okinawa radiates a relaxed island vibe, with its sunny skies, clear blue oceans and warm weather year-round. Check out the Ryukyu Mura – a recreation of an old Okinawan village with crafts, foods and festivals – to learn what life was like during the time of the independent Ryukyu Kingdom from the 15th to 19th centuries. Cruise to Okinawa to see the stately pagodas of Ryukyu Castle and the stone ruins of Nakagusuku Castle with its ancient walled courtyards. Head to Okuma Beach on the mainland, or venture out to Miyako Island to see the iconic stone arch at Sunayama Beach and snorkel under the gentle turquoise waves.

Cruise to Ishigaki and take the one-hour hike up Okinawa's highest peak, Mt Otomo, and marvel at the ocean views dotted with neighbouring islands. Walk around Ishigaki's small town: sample freshly caught fish at the Public Market, explore the 19th-century Miyara Dounchi House and Gardens, or channel inner calm at nearby Torinji Zen Temple. Looking for more thrill factor? Head to the mangroves of Nagura Anparu Wetland for a kayaking adventure.

Although it's officially part of China, Hong Kong is a world unto itself. This bustling city is full of ancient and modern architecture, lots of people and — of course — the best dim sum around. Head to the Kowloon Peninsula for Golden Mile shopping along Nathan Road. Then, make your way to Hong Kong Island to admire the views from the top of Victoria Peak — you can see the skyscrapers of the financial district as well as the fishing village of Stanley Harbour. Cruise to Hong Kong and trek out to mountainous Lantau Island to see the famous Tian Tan Buddha, standing a full 112 feet tall. Or score some quiet time at Hong Kong Park, full of contemplative rock gardens and tree-lined paths.
