Day 3 - Phu My ( Ho Chi Minh)

Ho Chi Minh City was originally a fishing village and then the site of the end of the Vietnam War… although then it was called Saigon. Today it’s a major trading center, back to bustling the way it’s been since the 18th century. The biggest difference now is the scale of the bustle — the population lately is booming and Ho Chi Minh City features a certain kind of energy you’ll only find in places where motorbikes rule the roads. Visit and you can’t miss the welcomingly-wide boulevards, French colonial architecture and vibrant street-market culture on display at places like Ben Thanh Market on Dong Khoi Street or Cholon, the city’s own Chinatown district. Off the street, the Vietnam War-era Củ Chi tunnel network invites visitors underground while the Mekong Delta waterway is home to a floating market located entirely on boats.

Day 5 - Kota Kinabalu

There’s literally two sides to Malaysia. East Malaysia — located on the island of Borneo, the world’s third-largest — is where you’ll find Kota Kinabalu. This seaport on the South China Sea can be thought of as a gateway to Borneo’s natural wonders like the plant-packed forest trails of Mt. Kinabalu Park and the endangered animal refuge of Lok Kawi Wildlife Park. But the city isn’t without constructed wonders of its own, featuring two ornate mosques, the historic Sabah Museum, plus the really-modern Tun Mustapha Tower. A reminder of the city’s colonial past is its former name “Jesselton,” but even older — and way more fun to say — is the indigenous “Api-Api.” Today Kota Kinabalu often simply goes by “KK”… and KK throws its doors open to visitors with a hearty selamat datang! (Now when you hear that, you’ll know it means “welcome.”)

Day 7 - Manila

A Filipino city of incredible contrasts, variety and rich history, some of the earliest parts of Manila were getting going in the 16th century long before it would become one of the world’s most densely packed cities. One example of the early days: the neighborhood of Intramuros actually started as the neighborhood fortress… and you can still visit their local landmarks today, like San Augstin Church, Casa Manila and yes, even the old kid on the block, Fort Santiago itself. In Manila, the influences come from all over, with Malay, Chinese, American, Spanish and Arab cultures helping to create an international mix you can experience right on the street… or perhaps best through the arts? If you agree, check out the Rizal Park, home to multiple museums, or Cultural Center of the Philippines for live performances, screenings and more. And we haven’t even mentioned the tropical countryside, or nearby Corregidor Island with its kayaking, birdwatching and extensive World War II memorial history.

Day 11 - Guam

Geographically Pacific, legally American and culturally cosmopolitan, Guam is an island of international flavor. It’s the furthest west you’ll find any part of the United States, but long before there was the U.S. — we’re talking 1500 B.C. — Guam was Chamorro. Traditional Chamorro culture mostly faded out during Spanish rule, but remains today alive in the principles of chenchule' and inafa'maolek — basically, sharing and support for one another — and Chamorro and Inarajan villages are spots you can still visit to get a feel for the old way of life. Signs of the Spanish period also remain, including the plaza of the former Governor’s Palace and Fort Soledad, which offers amazing bay views. 20th Century history buffs won’t want to miss the War In The Pacific National Historic Park, which turns WWII battlefields, trenches and bunkers into an historical monument.

Whether you’re on a cruise to Honolulu from the mainland, or a cruise from Honolulu, you’ll find yourself spellbound by this magical Pacific destination. Before or after your cruise, take the time to explore the historic port of Honolulu and its lively mix of world-class dining, perfect beaches and lush, tropical landscape. It’s hard to imagine a more picture-perfect holiday destination, and a cruise to Honolulu is an ideal way to experience it. Situated on the beautiful island of O’ahu, Honolulu invites you to stroll the fabled beaches of Waikiki under the protective watch of the ancient volcanic profile of Diamond Head... or visit the Polynesian Cultural Center, a 42-acre living museum of many South Pacific cultures. And be sure to stop off at the historic USS Arizona Memorial, an important landmark dedicated to those who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor.
