There is no doubt nature has been generous to the fine Korean island of Jeju-do, also known as Jeju Island. This is home to the mythical Cheonjeyon Falls, the stunning scenery of Sunrise Peak and the world’s longest lava tube. This picturesque haven is a honeymooners’ mecca and it certainly is a heart-warming destination. Newly-wed, happily married or still looking, you’ll fall in love with Jeju-do’s charming setting.

Day 6 - Nagasaki, Japan

Japan’s first real contact with the West was through Portuguese explorers and Jesuit missionaries, and then Dutch merchants. Apprehensive Shoguns thus closed Japan to foreign trade except at Nagasaki. Stop by Peace Park for a moment of serenity, or visit the Confucian Shrine to see the influence that the Chinese community has on Nagasaki.

Day 7 - Aburatsu (Miyazaki), Japan

On the southernmost island of Kyushu, Miyazaki offers one of the warmest climates in Japan. With parks and botanical gardens, its outdoors appeal attracts everyone from surfers to golfers. Aburatsu stands around 30 miles or so from Miyazaki, in an area linked with the enigmatic Emperor Jimmu, the first emperor of Japan. The Miyazaki Shrine is dedicated to the emperor and his parents, and is believed to trace back to the start of Emperor Jimmu’s reign around 2,600 years ago. The cedar wood shrine stands in attractive gardens that include a 400-year-old wisteria.

Day 8 - Kochi, Japan

Kochi is the capital of the Kochi Prefecture, which is located on Shikoku, the smallest of the four main islands which make up Japan, in a region scattered with temples and forested mountains. One of Kochi’s main sights is the castle complex, whose main tower, or donjon, is one of just twelve to remain intact across Japan. Its origins lie in the early 1600s, even if most of the buildings were rebuilt after a devastating fire in the mid-1700s. Several points make it unique, notably that its donjon served not just a military function, but as a residence too. Wooden interiors show how the castle would have looked during the Edo Period, and its lookout point offers fine views over the city.
